Femme Foetals x Hiromi Tango

Documentation of an interactive performance project conceived during a period of collaboration under the direction of MCA Primavera artist, Hiromi Tango from September - November 2011. In response to Tango's ongoing performance and installation project, Hiromi Hotel - Mixed Blood, my sister, Gabrielle, and I performed an absurd rebirthing ritual in the foyer of the Cleland Bond building, The Rocks, Sydney. 

Dressed in the guise of our alter-ego duo, The Femme Foetals, we used costume and performance to explore boundaries between mother/child and self/body. Inspired by the transformation of the body during pregnancy, and by simultaneous processes of growth and loss that are integral to childbirth, we performed a series of ritualised actions in which we attempted to embody states of becoming Other.

Housebound: Redux

This video and performance installation built on the Housebound work my sister and I had presented at the Sydney Fringe earlier this year. Wearing the same veiled costumes, we sat motionless in silence across from each other with close-up footage of our hands knitting played on small television screens. The only sound in the room was the rhythmic click click clack of twin knitting needles. The work explored habitual actions and the notion of tactile knowledge.

Housebound for Carriageworks

Some documentation of the performance my sister, Gabrielle, and I did for the Sydney Fringe at Carriageworks, 10th and 17th September. It was perfect weather for scantily clad siblings, and a number of produce shoppers at Eveleigh Markets followed us into Bay 19 to view the show...balmy.

Exhibition of artists involved in the Sydney Fringe, 2011. My sister and I will be performing Housebound as part of the opening on the 10th September.

Notorious D.I.G

Works exhibited as part of our Second Year SPI show at COFA, Notorious D.I.G. Managed to cram a multitude of quality works by our class into a very small space. Performed my new work, Housebound, on opening night, and managed to only spill one beer on the white robes used in the performance. Success all round. 

Imaginary Cities NYC

Photos taken in New York City as part of my Imaginary Cities project. Braved intense humidity and heatwave conditions in the Big Apple, donning the PVC coated suit and taking snapshots of myself infiltrating numerous NYC landmarks and tourist spots. Thankfully, New Yorkers paid little heed to my bizarre travel suit shufflings. Only one woman queried my actions and gave me her and God's blessing.

Pineapple Park Posse: Sanctuary

On the 22nd of November at 6:00 PM, Adrian Clement and James Gatt of Pineapple Park will be presenting their first work with the Pineapple Park Posse at Carriage Works in Sydney, Australia as part of the COFA annual. The following photographs are part of a shoot I did with Adrian and James at Paddington Reservoir, and are intended to illustrate the costume, makeup and general aesthetic of the collective group. It was a cold morning.
